Dairy-Free Muffins

Choose dairy-free liquids and fats while checking chocolate, toppings and bakery cross-contact.

Useful approach: Milk and butter are not the only possible dairy sources.

Liquid choices

Plant beverages vary in protein, sugar, flavour and thickness. Unsweetened neutral options are often easier to use, but the recipe should guide the choice.

Fat choices

Oil, dairy-free margarine and other fats affect flavour and texture differently. Butter-style flavour does not prove a product contains dairy—or that it is dairy-free.

Bakery questions

Ask about milk, butter, whey, chocolate, glaze and shared equipment. For a serious allergy, ingredient claims alone may not answer cross-contact concerns.

Practical checklist

  • Check every component, including toppings.
  • Use current labels.
  • Ask about shared equipment.
  • Do not assume vegan and allergen-safe mean the same thing.
